Equestrian Instructor

Pegasus Farm is currently seeking a part-time Equestrian Instructor in the Hartville, OH area.
The Equestrian Instructor would be an active member of the instructor staff with an emphasis on teaching therapeutic equestrian lessons at Pegasus Farm that support the mission of Pegasus.

Responsibilities:
Follow CHA and PATH standards as related to equestrian programming to provide a safe program for all.
As scheduled, teach assigned program classes, including but not limited to; therapeutic/adapted riding, able-bodied riding, and unmounted equine-assisted learning.
Teach curriculum based on the needs of the students' levels of age & ability and/or chosen curriculum for a particular program.
Direct and supervise volunteers assisting with students in classes and working in the barn.
Report any volunteer needs and/or concerns to the Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Complete assigned student progress reports semi-annually; medical/behavioral, occurrence reports as necessary.
Develop, maintain, and improve program materials and supplies for the betterment of the program.

The mission of Pegasus Farm is to create a community that holistically supports and empowers people with diverse needs through therapeutic equestrian programs, vocational services, and recreational and social activities.
Qualifications:
Current certification with Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) and/or Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH).
(Will consider a strong candidate who is ready to become certified within the next 6 months).
Extensive experience with horseback riding and instruction.
Experience in all aspects of horse care including barn management, riding skills, medical care, equipment, and tack fit/care.
Current certification in CPR/First Aid.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of disabilities pertaining to current students.
Essential Functions:
Ability to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and to apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and carry it for 100 yards.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental hazards, activity-related hazards and who may be in need of help.
Ambulatory abilities to accompany and participate in activities with participants and to summon help in case of an emergency.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
